As part of this project, Im Possible is committed to equipping its staff with the essential skills needed to identify risks and seize opportunities, while strengthening internal controls, governance frameworks, and risk management processes. These efforts aim to ensure both financial accountability and operational efficiency. The organization is focused on optimizing project implementation by enhancing program management, building staff capacity to track programmatic indicators, and equipping teams with the tools to navigate complex, uncertain future scenarios. This approach aims to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment with the projects goals, while fostering strategic thinking that prepares the organization to adapt to evolving challenges. By leveraging scenario planning, the organization will be able to anticipate potential developments, evaluate their impact, and make informed decisions in a collaborative manner, ultimately improving the overall effectiveness and efficiency of interventions. Description: Purpose of the assignment: Impossible is seeking a consultant to deliver a 3-day workshop on Strategic and Scenario Planning to enhance emergency preparedness and contingency planning within the context of Lebanons complex and dynamic environment. The consultant will emphasize on integrating strategic and scenario planning to help the organization anticipate or navigate potential risks and challenges in a natural disaster and socio-political conflict contexts. The consultant will work with the staff on identifying risks, develop adaptable response and problem-solving strategies, and strengthen the organizations ability to respond effectively to various scenarios. These efforts aim to ensure the organization remains resilient and prepared to navigate the uncertainties inherent to Lebanons operational landscape. Key Responsibilities: Designing a 3-day training curriculum covering: Environmental scanning: analyzing external factors (political, economic, social, technological, legal, environmental) that could impact the organization and providing assistance to projects participants. Defining and categorizing different types of scenarios (e.g., best-case, worst-case, and most-likely case) while assessing and prioritizing risks related to each scenario. Creating a risk management framework for dealing with high-probability and high-impact risks. Developing contingency plans for emergencies, disruptions, and unexpected events. Establishing clear protocols for staff and partners to follow in the event of emergencies. Identifying key emergency scenarios (natural disasters, cyber-attacks, public health crises, etc.). Developing training / workshop materials tailored to the needs of the organization. The curriculum and content should be practical, engaging, and customized to the context of operation of the organization. Conducting interactive training / workshop (including presentations, group work, and case studies) to build staff capacity in risk identification, strategic thinking, and emergency response practices. Providing guidance on incorporating scenario planning into routine strategic reviews and decision-making. Preparing for business continuity and disaster recovery. Creating emergency response plans that outline roles, responsibilities, and communication strategies. Facilitating discussions to ensure that participants actively engage in identifying risks and opportunities relevant to their context while promoting problem-solving and adaptive strategies. Providing handouts, training materials, and resources for post-training reference. Conducting pre- and post-training assessments to evaluate knowledge gained and the effectiveness of the training. Deliverables: Training/ workshop materials including introduction to scenario planning methodologies, tools for analysing risks, practical exercises to test different scenarios and integrating scenario planning into program design, operations and decision-making. Training/ workshop delivery to enhance staff capacities. Comprehensive contingency plans covering various emergencies, disruptions, and unexpected events (e.g., natural disasters, cyberattacks, supply chain disruptions). Emergency Response Plan: clearly structured plan that outlines actions, roles, and responsibilities during different types of emergencies. A report on the training effectiveness and consultancy process, including feedback and recommendations. Duration of the consultancy: 3 days training Qualifications: Advanced degree in risk management, business administration, project management, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in identifying risks, risk management,contingency planning, strategic and scenario planning. Proven expertise in developing training/ workshop materials, adult learning methodologies and training facilitation, particularly for staff and aid workers in the field. Hands-on experience conducting risk assessments, designing risk mitigation strategies, and developing response plans for both natural and human-made crise.s Strong understanding of local and international auditing standards. Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills. Competencies: Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent communication and training skills and ability to conceptualize different scenarios and set strategic directions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Cultural competency and sensitivity to community needs. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Proven presentation and reporting skills.
