Cape Verde Project Notice - Skills Training For Employment

Project Notice

PNR 718
Project Name Skills Training for Employment
Project Detail This project seeks to increase economic opportunities for 4,000 qualified women and men in Mozambique by improving their access to the job market. The project aims to strengthen two training institutions in the coal-rich Tete province and two in the gas-rich Cabo Delgado province, to help them provide up-to-date and practical training in areas such as geology, mining surveying, mineral processing, and mechanical and electrical maintenance.

Some project activities include: (i) implementing modern, hands-on training curricula; (ii) providing industry-standard training equipment; (iii) training instructors and school administrators to improve their leadership and management skills; and (iv) strengthening linkages with the private sector to facilitate the hiring of graduates. The project also seeks to set up four pilot service centres to help students find employment. The two institutions in Tete province form a Training Centre of Excellence for Mining, and the two in Cabo Delgado form a Training Centre of Excellence for Oil and Gas.

The implementing partner, the Association of Canadian Community Colleges, has experience in Mozambique and will draw upon its network of 130 member colleges and CEGEPs (general and vocational colleges) across Canada to implement this project.
