Project Detail Project No. HWG_06_2025S Project Title Development of a Dengue Prevention and Control Roadmap for APEC Economies 2026 to 2030 Project Status Project in Implementation Dengue has been identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the greatest threats to public health. Increased urbanization, globalization, and climate change have contributed to the surging rates of dengue worldwide, which have led to serious outbreaks in many Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies. A recent wave of dengue outbreaks, particularly in Latin America and Asia, has imposed significant burdens on health systems, disrupted local economic activities, and affected communities. During the Health Working Group (HWG) session at the APEC HWG SOM3 meeting in August 2024, several APEC member economies shared their challenges and highlighted best practices. The aim of these discussions was to facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building in dengue prevention and control. To maintain regional momentum in accelerating dengue prevention and control, this project aims to develop a roadmap for APEC economies. The roadmap will highlight the growing dengue crisis and provide strategies to enable APEC economies to implement or enhance a comprehensive and multisectoral strategy for dengue prevention and control.
