Project Name Capacity Building for MSMEs in the Use of Emerging Technologies to Enhance Food Security
Project Detail Project No. PPSTI_208_2024A Project Status Project in Implementation Food security has become critical due to rising food prices, population growth, water scarcity, environmental pollution and climate change. Utilizing emerging technologies like IoT, Big Data, and AI is essential for APEC economies to mitigate climate change impacts, enhance productivity, and ensure food security with sustainable farming practices. This project aims to empower MSMEs with these technologies and sustainable practices to improve food security. Collaborating with APEC experts (PPFS, SME WG and ATC WG), it will compile a report using technological surveillance and competitive intelligence, incorporating best practices, government support strategies (physical and human capital), and research related to MSME food security. The report, scheduled for completion by October 2025, will support a hybrid workshop in February 2026 in Piura, Peru. During the hybrid workshop, industry experts will share findings with agricultural MSMEs and policymakers, facilitating actionable steps to enhance food security.
