Project Detail |
The project aims to continue and expand on the achievements of cooperation between the Rennes Basin Water Collectivity and Beitunia, initiated in 2015, to improve the supply and distribution of drinking water to the inhabitants of Beitunia. CONTEXT Since 2015, elected officials from the two original communities, their technical services, and partners have been discussing and making progress toward achieving the cooperations objectives. Following a diagnosis of the actions to be prioritized, a first phase of water network extension work was carried out from 2017 to 2020. A second agreement was reached for 2020-2023, with the support of the AFD via a first FICOL for the completion of new network rehabilitation and modernization work as well as the continuation of a training program. For the period 2024-2027, the project extends and deepens the results of the cooperation and opens up new avenues. DESCRIPTION The project is divided into 4 components: carrying out renovation, extension and improvement work on the drinking water network, carrying out work on the structures and the wastewater collection network in the north of Beitunia and Ramallah, training technicians in the upkeep and maintenance of the water and sanitation network, raising awareness of the project among the populations of the Rennes basin and Beitunia. |
