| Project Name |
Solar stoves for drying tropical wood in Noh Bec, Quintana Roo |
| Project Detail |
The projects main objective is to add in-situ value to native woods produced by community forest management with FM-FSC certification in Quintana Roo, through the establishment of a battery of drying kilns with a capacity of 6,000 board feet of tropical hardwoods per month. To this end, solar drying technologies and drying equipment (dehumidifiers and fans) powered by electricity from solar panels are adapted to reduce drying costs, lessen the impact of the forestry industry on climate change; as well as strengthen the development of family carpentry shops, supplying them with kiln-dried and FSC-certified wood to make furniture manufacturing more competitive and facilitate its access to the regional market. |
