Takid, Dongbang and Lane village, Lao Ngam district, Saravan province are selected as target areas due to the representative of the rain-fed agricultural systems was successful experiences in mobilizing the rural community from the previous projects. A participatory process involved multiple stakeholders is thus proposed to understand the complexity and dynamics of climate change impacts, then hybrid knowledge will co-produce to guide the community-based adaptation. In addition, top-down approaches are also suggested to mediate and improve the impact pathways such as social capital and market linkages to address the complex problems of agricultural development, climate change, and poverty. The project aims are to involve the key stakeholders, including the community, line government agencies, and researchers, to identify and address the urgent adaptation priorities, to ensures sufficient institutional, social support and sustainability. Additionally, environmental sustainability willbe eventually attained because of the focus on environmental challenges.
