Project Detail |
Ozone Fund (German Ozone Protection Advisory and Investment Fund) International legal obligations under the Montreal Protocol require countries in the Global South to gradually reduce their use of substances that are harmful to the climate and the ozone layer. To this end, they must implement appropriate regulations and standards, as well as introduce and scale up the use of alternative, sustainable technologies. This requires them to provide advice and training to various target groups, from political decision-makers to (informal) maintenance technicians. The transition to new technologies is supported by countries in the Global North via a multilateral fund (MLF). The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH implements activities funded by the MLF in various partner countries on behalf of the German Government. The partner countries are upholding their commitments under the Montreal Protocol and transforming the refrigeration and air conditioning sector.
