The Weapons Adhering Secured Sites Project – WASSP has been designed to make a direct and substantial contribution to the establishment of a fully sustainable munitions stockpile management system within the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces of Bosnia and Hercegovina (MoD/AF BiH). Building upon the successful implementation of Phases I and II of the Ammunition Weapons and Explosives Master Plan (AWE MP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina and drawing on over 15 years of programmatic support from the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the WASSP project aims to play a crucial role in completing Phase III of the AWE MP. This endeavor is designed to ensure the comprehensive functionality of the stockpile management system and its vital components.The intervention will encompass infrastructure upgrades and security enhancements for prospective weapons facilities, covering heavy weapons and Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) under military ownership. Beyond these physical improvements, the project will directly support the establishment of sustainable stockpile management solutions, fostering more secure and modern logistic systems. This, in turn, will create a safe and secure environment for handling stockpiles.A specific focus of the project involves reducing and upgrading storage facilities, as well as returning a number of facilities to local communities to support development prospects. Additionally, the WASSP project will contribute to building the capacities of the MoD/AF BiH by aligning critical military components with contemporary international standards and best practices. |
