Project Detail |
The ECaPAM project is a critical UNDP-led initiative aiming to revitalize two essential ports in war-torn Yemen, improving the flow of essential goods and humanitarian aid. By rehabilitating damaged infrastructure, including a marine workshop in Aden, procuring vital equipment like mooring boats and tugboats, and enhancing operational efficiency through activities such as staff training in hydrographic surveying, the project aims to reduce waiting times and facilitate a smooth flow of supplies. Funded by the governments of Japan and Kuwait, ECaPAM directly contributes to a more effective humanitarian response and lays the foundation for broader economic recovery, particularly in South Yemen. While not solely focused on gender, the projects emphasis on inclusive development, particularly demonstrated in its call for a gender-sensitive design for the reconstructed marine workshop, signals potential for a broader positive impact on women and vulnerable communities. By strengthening collaboration with local stakeholders, including women’s organizations, and implementing a robust monitoring framework that tracks progress towards inclusive outcomes, ECaPAM can contribute to a more resilient and equitable future for all Yemenis. |
