Project No. EC_02_2025S Project Title Structural Reforms for Disability: Increasing Economic Participation through Access to Assistive Technology Project Status Project in Implementation The project will present available data on the economic value of disability inclusion and identify structural reforms that promote disability-inclusive economic growth in APEC economies through increased access to assistive technology. It will identify specific barriers and structural reform opportunities through an exchange of case studies of reforms in APEC economies that increase access to assistive products and services. The project will bring together representatives and experts from APEC member economies with global experts in a knowledge and policy exchange workshop. Globally, and in APEC economies, people with disabilities face greater difficulties in securing employment, are at significantly higher risk of poverty and social exclusion, and generally face higher barriers to accessing education opportunities. A critical barrier to effective economic participation for people with disabilities is access to safe, high quality and affordable assistive technology. This project will enable relevant APEC officials, other stakeholders and experts to identify emerging issues and priorities for structural reforms that will increase access to assistive technology and promote inclusive economic growth. |
