Supporting Viet Nam’s Office of the Government with legal issues For several years now, the Vietnamese Government has been promoting reforms to the legal system to improve the rule of law. The focus is primarily on reforming economic and social factors. The Office of the Government (OOG) and its Department of Law play a decisive role in this context. The Department of Law develops new legislation and liaises between the National Assembly, the ministries and other actors who are affected by the proposals. It also advises the Prime Minister and the Government by preparing statements on the planned draft legislation. Clarifying the legal framework for the environment and the economy is paramount for the socio-ecological transformation of the economy that climate change requires. Objective Viet Nam’s legislative process takes into account international legal standards, experience, knowledge and strategies, particularly with regard to a just transition, economic growth and climate change. |
