The project aims to re-legalize the process of Veal Vong Community Forestry to expand the CF areas from management of 10 ha CF to 2,527 ha of CF areas provided by the Forestry Administration/MAFF based on the Community Forestry establishment process/guidelines. At the same time, the project also provides support to CF committee members to restructure the CF management committee, update CF internal rules and Regulations, and provide training on leadership skills and biodiversity conservation. To get more involvement from youths and children in forest conservation, the project will organize a Forest Conservation campaign with school children and youth in the target to raise awareness on this topic to the target villages in the target commune. To support the CF committee in managing 2,527 ha of CF areas, the project will support CF demarcation by digging 1,000 meters of CF boundary canal, producing and placing 30 cement poles around the CF areas, building a patrolling hut, and puttingthe project sign board. The project will implement Agro-forestry in 3 ha of CF area, raising cows and establishing and running 2 saving groups. Moreover, the project will create a mini-trust fund for the CF committee to have funding for implementing forest conservation activities after the project ends. The interest earned from the saving groups and the mini-trust fund will be used for CF patrolling and conservation activities. Documentation of lessons learned, and good practices is also part of this project. |
