In Malaysia state of Sarawak, while the area of primeval tropical forests is decreasing, conservation of biodiversity is being addressed as a top priority issue, and efforts are being made to expand the area of national parks with a goal of 1 million hectares. As a result, basic information essential for the protection and utilization of biodiversity, such as which species are distributed in which national parks, has not been obtained. , efforts have not been made to utilize it effectively for biological resource exploration, training of human resources responsible for science and technology, promotion of the tourism industry, etc. This cooperation aims to enhance the function of protected areas in the state by collaborating with stakeholders related to protected area management (research, government, private sector) and accumulating knowledge on the utilization of biodiversity. This will contribute to strengthening cooperation with the national framework. |
