Project Detail |
In Mongolia, the concentration of population and economic activity in the capital, Ulaanbaatar, is prominent, and the deterioration of the urban environment and traffic congestion are continuing issues. It is important to diversify the mining-centered economic structure, which is greatly affected by fluctuations in international resource prices, and to reduce dependence on China and Russia through promoting regional development while correcting the concentration in the capital. In this context, a plan was made to correct regional development disparities by developing a new city (New Zuunmod City), including a free economic zone, in the Khusig Valley district of Tuv Province. This project will contribute to promoting development in the target region by establishing the necessary implementation system for the implementation of the New Zuunmod Development Master Plan and strengthening the capacity of related organizations. [Overall goal] The development of New Zuunmod City in the Khusig Valley is promoted based on legal and organizational frameworks. [Project purpose] The capacity of Mongolian government-related organizations in coordination and cooperation to promote the development of New Zuunmod City is strengthened. [Outcomes] Output 1: A bill on the development of New Zuunmod City is formulated. Output 2: The development of legal, investment and institutional framework for the development of Free Economic Zone/Special Economic Zone in New Zoummod Municipality is facilitated. |
