Project Name |
In Laos, the net enrollment rate in primary Education is 98.7% for girls and 99.0% for boys, with many children having access to Education, but improving the quality of Education is a challenge. In order to improve the learning of more children, it is essential to strengthen the capacity and collaboration of personnel involved in continuous professional development (CPD) of in-service teachers, including teacher training colleges (TTCs). |
Project Detail |
One of the obstacles to overcoming poverty and economic development in Laos is the challenge of infectious diseases, including malaria and neglected parasitic diseases (NPDs), which cannot yet be eliminated. This project aims to: (1) conduct more accurate malaria diagnosis, including asymptomatic and low-density Plasmodium falciparum infection, in areas where malaria and targeted NPDs are endemic; (2) monitor malaria prevalence, including remote areas and the spread of drug-resistant malaria; (3) develop and introduce diagnostic techniques to monitor the prevalence of NPDs; (4) evaluate the effectiveness of innovative insect inactivation Evaluate the effectiveness of the technology, and implement EcoHealth Education in model villages. This will strengthen malaria and NPDs control by developing and introducing new diagnostic methods and piloting innovative preventive technologies in the field. [Overall Goal] Malaria and Neglected Parasitic Diseases (NPDs) transmission will be controlled or eliminated throughout Lao PDR through the introduction of new diagnostic methods and implementation of preventive measures established in the project. [Project Purpose] Malaria and NPDs control will be strengthened through the development and introduction of new diagnostic methods and the piloting of innovative prevention techniques in the field. Outcome. Output 1: More accurate diagnosis of malaria, including asymptomatic and low-density Plasmodium falciparum infection, in malaria-endemic areas will be achieved through new diagnostic techniques. Output 2: The epidemic status of malaria, including the spread of endemic and drug-resistant malaria in remote areas, will be determined. Output 3: Diagnostic technologies will be developed and introduced to assess the prevalence of NPDs. Output 4: The effectiveness of innovative inhalant inactivation technologies will be evaluated. Output 5: Eco-health Education based on research findings will be introduced in model villages. |
