Tuvalu Project Notice - CAPACITY BUILDING OF COMMUNITY HOME GARDENING TO ENHANCE LIVELIHOOD AND CLIMATE RESILIENCE IN AGRICULTURAL CROPS, IN NANUMEA ISLAND-TUVALU

Project Notice

PNR 68808
Project Name CAPACITY BUILDING OF COMMUNITY HOME GARDENING TO ENHANCE LIVELIHOOD AND CLIMATE RESILIENCE IN AGRICULTURAL CROPS, IN NANUMEA ISLAND-TUVALU
Project Detail Nukulaelae is the smallest indigenous community comprising of over 300 people permanently residing on the island with about 70 households. Given the lack of space, land issues and prolonged droughts it is vital to procure more water tanks for each household on island. There is only one water cistern to cater for the island should there be a drought. This is insufficient given that there are more homes being built on the islets in order to safeguard should there be disease breakouts on the main island. This project will contribute to SGP Country programme strategy by achieving water security. It relates directly to the Tuvalu SUSTINABLE DEVELOPMENT PLAN TE KETE 2021-2030 as there is so much emphasis placed on developing the outer islands and improving water catchment. Project Number:TUV/SGP/OP7/CORE/CC/2024/002
Funded By United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
Sector Agriculture, Food and Beverages
Country Tuvalu , Polynesia
Project Value AUD 40,000
