The development objective of Preparedness and Enhancing Resilient Communities Project for Suriname is to (i) enhance climate adaptation and reduce flood risk in Greater Paramaribo, and (ii) increase access to resilience-enhancing community infrastructure and services. This project has three components. 1) The first component, Priority Local Flood Management and Preparedness, has the following sub-components: (i) Improving secondary and tertiary drainage; and (ii) Strengthening Emergency Preparedness and Response in Public Works. 2) The second component, Community-led Preparedness and Resilience Grants, will finance community preparedness and resilience of about 35 sub-projects, directly complementing the investments in secondary and tertiary flood management infrastructure under Component 1. 3) The third component, Project Management, will finance consulting services, goods, and equipment for the Project Implementation Unit (PIU).To (i) enhance climate adaptation and reduce flood risk in Greater Paramaribo, and (ii) increase access to resilience-enhancing community infrastructure and services. |
