Project No. EWG_208_2024A Project Title Promotion and Development of Biogas Technology and Biogas Inventory in the Livestock Farm among APEC Economies Project Status Project in Implementation The global livestock industry plays a vital role in food security. However, improper manure disposal poses significant environmental threats, prompting the need for innovative and sustainable solutions. This improper disposal of livestock waste is degraded and breaking through the organic bonds between the waste converted into methane and carbon dioxide gases can contaminate the air quality. Creating biogas production technology can improve the oxygen-free environment. This project aims to promote the use of biogas technology as the means to convert manure waste to energy for 20 participants from APEC economies. In general, implementing biogas technology can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from livestock farms. Thus, this project also aims to provide capacity building in GHG inventory assessment for the participants. The participants include livestock farm owners, educators, and related government officers. The key activities to support both aims need assessment, a 3-day training/workshop, and a post-training/workshop meeting. The main outputs of the project are 20 trained participants, GHG inventory for the participating farms, and recommendations for the farms to achieve Net-Zero GHG Emission. |
