Project Detail |
This project in the Dimadjou agricultural plateau aims to strengthen the adaptability of community farmers to the considerable impacts of climate change, while also contributing to food security and forest management. In this regard, adaptation of producers will be essential through the modification of farm management practices and the adoption of new technologies for plant varieties, more adapted to climate change. It should also be based on the development of agricultural sectors and the sustainable development of farms, including: (i) integrated management of soil fertility; (ii) strengthening support services for producers (hydraulic infrastructure); and (iii) dissemination of improved technologies, sustainable management of forest areas. This requires systematically applying the principles of sustainability to the management of theagriculture, with a view to ensuring its sustainability in the face of climate change. This community-based pilot project adopts a promising solar pumping system for small-scale agricultural irrigation to many smallholders. It will enable the development and implementation of a training package on climate-resilient agriculture for 200 farmers in this climate-vulnerable community. |
