Project Detail |
The objective of the Accelerating Sustainable and Clean Energy Access Transformation Project is to increase access to sustainable and clean energy in Eswatini. The project has three components, the first being network reinforcement. The component will support EEC activities to improve the reliability of the networks. The component will finance various medium voltage works up to 66 kV to reinforce weak segments of the networks, install control equipment in key segments of the networks, and install low voltage (LV) distribution lines for supporting last-mile electrification. The second component is the electricity access expansion. The component will finance both on-grid and off-grid electrification activities to support the GoKE in achieving universal access to electricity by 2030 by connecting 50,000 households. This component includes two sub-components: on-grid peri-urban and rural electrification, last-mile connectivity, and off-grid design and implementation support. Finally, the third component is the technical assistance, studies, capacity building, and implementation support are the third component. The component will include TA to provide implementation support on monitoring and evaluation, procurement, contract management and supervision, environment and social, citizen engagement and gender, and capacity-building activities of relevant institutions to strengthen sector capacities. |
