Project Detail The objective of the West Africa Regional Electricity Market Program Multiphase Programmatic Approach is to increase regional electricity trade, scale up renewable energy integration, and expand access to electricity in the West African region. The project has three components, the first being regional interconnectivity and access scale-up. This component includes two subcomponents: the Mauritania transmission corridor construction and rural energy access. The second component is the renewable energy scale-up. This component comprises three subcomponents: renewable energy development, support for private capital enabling renewable investments, and variable renewable energy integration. Finally, the third component is the institutional and implementation support. This component includes three subcomponents: Institutional support, project management support, and closing the gender gap in the energy sector.The Project Development Objective is to scale up renewable energy deployment, increase access to electricity, and expand Mauritanias electricity export capacity.
