Project No. TWG_102_2024 Project Title Study on adventure tourism products development opportunities in the APEC economies Project Status Project in Implementation The 2017 APEC High Level Statement Promoting Sustainable Tourism for an Inclusive and Interconnected Asia-Pacific underscores the significance of sustainable tourism as an important driver for regional economic integration and sustainable, innovative and inclusive growth. Considering this statement and, given that adventure tourism involves sustainable practices and the conservation of natural heritage of a destination, thereby contributing to its differentiation, it is essential to provide government tourism officials with information to develop adventure tourism products that contribute to innovation and sustainable development in the sector. To accomplish that, it is proposed to conduct a report on case studies from APEC economies which focus on adventure tourism products development, risk management, legal requirements, business development, trends, opportunities and challenges, impact by environmental challenges including climate change, among others. The project includes the compilation of case studies, a virtual workshop to discuss and debate the results, and a final report. |
