The project will conduct a meta-analysis of existing partnerships with Indigenous communities that foster Indigenous promotion and development to identify what Indigenous tourism partnerships exist across APEC economies. This analysis will be compiled into a report, which will highlight case studies and the results of a private sector focus group. The focus group will ask private sector Indigenous tourism partners about opportunities and challenges for tourism development, and strategies for governments to offer support. From the meta-analysis described above, the project will seek to create a directory for Indigenous tourism development, including existing partnerships between government and Indigenous communities, the private sector, and Indigenous tourism associations. A final conference will present the findings of the report, the private sector focus group, and how to utilize the directory. The conference will serve to establish linkages between relevant tourism policymakers, other government officials, tourism marketing/promotion agencies, and Indigenous tourism groups and associations, and provide information to participants on how to better create partnerships with Indigenous communities in APEC economies. |
