Project Name Exchange of Best Practices to Raise the visibility of Family Businesses: Challenges and Strengths
Project Detail Project No. SMEWG_203_2024A Project Title Exchange of Best Practices to Raise the visibility of Family Businesses: Challenges and Strengths Project Status Project in Implementation Worldwide, family businesses represent between 65% and 80% of total businesses and are great job generators, which is why they make relevant economic contributions to their communities. In Mexico, the majority of MSMEs have their origin in these family bonds, which makes them have a particularly organizational structure based on the relationships within their family home and a strong sense of identity and commitment to their economic activity, a result of cultural heritage and the perception of these activities as a factor of family cohesion. This project seeks to identify best practices that Mexico and other APEC economies have established to make family businesses visible and dignified, as well as the organizational models of successful family MSMEs that have overcome generational barriers. One of the benefits of this project is making recommendations based on best practices from the region regarding the design and implementation of policies to enable family- owned MSMEs to increase their longevity and venture into formality.
