Contract Number D264867 This project will replace the State Route 28 bridge over the South Inlet of Raquette Lake in the Town of Arietta, Hamilton County. Route 28 is one of the primary corridors in the Adirondack Park and provides the only link for tourists in the western Adirondack Park. Tourist attactions serviced by Route 28 include the Water Safari (Old Forge), W.W. Durant Cruises (Raquette Lake), the Great Camp Sagamore, the Blue Mountain Lake Museum, many trails, campgrounds, and other tourist attractions. The project will address geometric, safety and operational deficiencies such as stopping sight distance. The addition of a multi-use trail and bridge just south of the new bridge will provide access for recreational use. |
