A new path to research collaboration The integration of nanomaterials and biomedicine presents complex challenges in research and innovation. Often, these fields operate in silos, limiting potential breakthroughs. There is a growing need for interdisciplinary collaboration to tackle health-related issues using advanced materials. Addressing this gap could drive significant advancements in both science and industry. Funded by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions programme, the NANO4TALENT project seeks to bridge this divide through a unique postdoctoral programme at CINBIO, part of Universidade de Vigo. It will offer five 24-month positions, allowing fellows to create their own interdisciplinary research projects. By connecting different research groups, NANO4TALENT aims to enhance collaboration and position CINBIO as a leading international centre for nanomaterials for biomedicine. NANO4TALENT is an ambitious international transboundary Postdoctoral Programme that will award 5 postdoctoral positions of 24 months each in two calls over the programme. Fellows will freely define an interdisciplinary research project, fitting their individual needs and interests, involving two different research groups from the two different core areas (Nanomaterials and Biomedicine) and exploring new collaborations and synergies between CINBIO researchers. CINBIO is a public multidisciplinary research centre, under the umbrella of Universidade de Vigo (UVigo), focused on developing groundbreaking research in the main areas of nanomaterials and biomedicine. CINBIO was created in 2009 and hosts more than 170 staff members distributed in 15 different research groups that clusters chemists, physicists, biologists and material scientists with extensive experience in research and academic tasks. The NANO4TALENT Programme represents a unique opportunity to strengthen the ties between these two areas to consolidate the positioning of CINBIO as an international research centre in nanomaterials for biomedicine. The COFUND programme will also boost CINBIO’s capacity-building by establishing synergies with the funding from regional government. This Programme will be deeply imbued with the guidelines of the HRS4R will offer research freedom, equal opportunities, local career-supporting structures, a well-connected regional ecosystem of R&I actors, and high-quality working conditions. Overall, NANO4TALENT Programme provides a unique springboard to prepare postdoctoral fellows for a successful career in the European academic and private sectors aiming at decision-making positions. This programme will also boost the interdisciplinary research at CINBIO, catalyse institutional capacity-building and cement the strategic collaboration across sectors even further. |
