Project Detail |
Viet Nam The Mekong Delta region in the south is a producer of rice, fruits and Fisheries goods, and its exports account for 20 percent of GDP, making it an important region for the countrys socio-economy and neighboring Mekong countries. It is also one of the three largest deltas affected by Climate Change in the world, and it is predicted that yields in the agricultural Fisheries industry will decline due to global warming, high salinization, and wetting due to Climate Change. For this reason, the government of Indonesia has set out to implement Climate Change adaptation measures, and in order to achieve them, it is essential to further strengthen scientific research and technological development in this field and to promote efforts through industry-government-academia collaboration, and higher Education institutions are expected to play a central role in this process. The Japan government has supported Can Tho University (CTU), a core university in the region, to build a research and experiment building, Education and research equipment, train teachers, improve research capacity, and expand Education programs. As a result, the foundation for Education and research as a regional hub university is being established, but for regional collaboration, it is necessary to further strengthen the system to systematically lead collaboration with various stakeholders. In addition, Education ·In order to disseminate methods and know-how to return the results of research to local communities, it is necessary to strengthen the ability and system to systematically practice regional cooperation.
In this cooperation, CTU will contribute to the sustainable development of agriculture and Fisheries aquaculture adapted to Climate Change in the Mekong Delta region by building a regional cooperation network and improving the practical capacity of regional cooperation activities by implementing practical Education and training, expanding the social implementation of research results, and strengthening the regional collaboration implementation system.
