In the agricultural sector, the Bhutanese government is committed to promoting commercial agriculture with a focus on horticultural crops with high market value and organic crops, aiming to improve the livelihood of rural people by changing from subsistence farming to commercial agriculture. Among these, the project prioritizes the enhancement of production of temperate fruit trees as horticultural crops with high market value, which requires the supply of seedlings, technology dissemination, and the development of sales channels.
This project aims to strengthen the production and supply system of high quality fruit tree seedlings and orchard management in the western region of Bhutan by developing the basic infrastructure necessary for fruit tree seedling production, strengthening the capacity of fruit tree seedling production personnel, and revising the extension program. With this, we aim to commercialize agriculture through the introduction of horticultural crops in Bhutan. |
