Among the four provinces of Pakistan, the under-five mortality rate and neonatal mortality rate in Punjab are much higher than the national and provincial averages, and improving maternal and child health indicators in the southern part of the province is an urgent issue. This project aims to improve the quality of care for pregnant women and newborns by improving the quality of Health services at the primary level in targeted provinces in Punjab and by strengthening supervision functions in the provinces and districts. The project aims to contribute to the improvement of maternal and newborn health conditions in Punjab. (1) Overall Goal The health situation of pregnant women and newborns in Punjab will be improved. (2) Project Purpose The quality of care for pregnant women and newborns, especially at the primary level, will be improved. (3) Output Output 1 Knowledge and skills of maternal and newborn care in the community will be improved. Output 2 The Health services for pregnant women and newborns at the facility level will be strengthened. Output 3 Oversight of maternal and newborn care at the provincial and district levels will be strengthened. Output 4 Experiences and lessons learned through project implementation will be deployed in the provinces and districts. |
