Nepal The Kathmandu Basin in the Kathmandu region of the Mere Old Man is a population and industrial concentration, but there is no track-based transportation system in place, and the region is heavily dependent on road transportation by private cars, buses, motorcycles, and other vehicles. Therefore, due to the recent increase in the number of vehicles associated with population growth and other factors, traffic volumes are saturated at several intersections, resulting in serious traffic congestion and traffic accidents. Therefore, in order to secure traffic capacity, road widening, formation of wide roads, or large-scale intersection improvements are necessary. However, it is difficult to secure land for roads in the Kathmandu Basin, where buildings are already densely built up, and efficient operation of existing roads and intersections is important. However, there are issues in traffic management, such as intersection geometry, including the lack of dedicated right/left turn lanes, and inefficient traffic signal operation, including extremely long green/red light cycles, etc. Plans, guidelines, and specific improvement measures necessary for these improvements have not yet been formulated, nor have appropriate budgetary measures been implemented. In addition, drivers lack of awareness of traffic safety is a major cause of traffic accidents, and there is a need to strengthen efforts to raise traffic safety awareness. This cooperation aims to improve traffic congestion at major intersections in the Kathmandu Basin and promote traffic safety by implementing appropriate traffic management measures through the formulation of an urban traffic management plan, improvement of the capacity to operate and manage intersection improvements and traffic signals, and improvement of the capacity to conduct traffic safety awareness activities. This will contribute to improving traffic congestion and promoting traffic safety at major intersections in the Kathmandu Basin. |
