The Northern Province of Sri Lanka is vulnerable to drought and floods Climate Change in addition to a lack of agriculture-related infrastructure and agricultural knowledge. Improving agricultural productivity and adaptability Climate Change are important issues to stabilize and improve the livelihood of the local population. The University of Jaffna is the only higher Education institution with a Faculty of Agriculture in the Northern Province, and aims to produce high quality human resources in the fields of agricultural technology and agriculture and livestock industry through high Education quality, advanced research and dissemination of agricultural technology to contribute to the promotion of local dryland agriculture. This project will strengthen the Education ·structures and human resource development related to research, social collaboration/outreach, and university administration at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna, to Education ·strengthen the research infrastructure. This will help to produce high quality human resources that will contribute to improving agricultural productivity and adaptability Climate Change in arid region agriculture. |
