In Cambodia, road transportation plays a central role in domestic transportation. However, the road pavement ratio of local roads remains low at about 9%, resulting in poor visibility due to dust during the dry season and road disruptions due to heavy rains and floods during the rainy season, which adversely affect the lives of residents. In response to this situation, the government is emphasizing local development, including the construction of local roads.
This project will improve and widen local roads, including bridges and road drainage facilities, in the area along National Highway No. 5, which connects the capital Phnom Penh to the Thai border, to strengthen the connectivity of the road network in the area. This will improve peoples access to socio-economic activities and Climate Change contribute to stable socio-economic development in the area.
Project Objective

Project Description
(1) Civil works (subproject for improvement of local roads)
Pavement improvement and widening of existing roads, improvement of road shoulders, replacement of bridges, improvement of drainage facilities, and improvement of traffic safety facilities (signs, etc.).
(2) Consulting Services
Detailed design, bidding assistance, construction supervision, human resource development and organizational capacity building of implementing agencies for road operation and maintenance, support for environmental and social considerations, support for traffic safety Education · awareness raising activities, etc. |
