While the water supply rate in regional cities in Cambodia is low, Siem Reap City, the largest tourist city in Cambodia, is expected to see an increase in water demand due to the growing population and tourists visiting the Angkor Wat Complex, and thus requires further expansion of its water supply system. Under these circumstances, this project aims to improve the living environment in Siem Reap City and the environment for the promotion of tourism and industry in the area by expanding the water supply system in Siem Reap City to provide safe and stable water supply services. (1) Purpose of the Project To contribute to the improvement of the living environment in Siem Reap City and the promotion of the tourism industry in the region by expanding the water supply facilities and thereby promoting safe and stable water supply services in Siem Reap City, which is facing serious water shortages due to rapid urbanization and an increase in tourists. (2) Project Contents (a) Water intake facilities, water pipelines (about 10 km), water transmission pipes (about 29 km) (international competitive bidding: procured in September 2019), distribution cables (about 10 km) (b) Water purification plant (60,000 m3/day) (international competitive bidding: already procured in November 2019) c) Water distribution pipes (approx. 260 km) (international competitive bidding: already procured in December 2018) d) Consulting services (detailed design, bidding assistance, construction supervision, human resource development and organizational strengthening, etc.) (Short list method: already procured in January 2016) |
