Project Detail |
While the size of the food market in Indonesia is expanding, driven by the expansion of the middle class and vigorous consumption mainly by the younger generation, there are challenges such as underdeveloped transportation infrastructure and cold chain, and complex and costly traditional distribution processes. Producers also face difficulties in accessing markets where they can grow high-quality, safe agricultural products at appropriate prices. Japan has been implementing Phase 1 of this Technical Cooperation since 2016 and has made progress in improving the production technology of the target farmer groups and developing sales channels to modern markets, but the production volume of agricultural products for modern markets remains limited and the farmers ability to negotiate prices is low because the joint marketing and production system by the farmer groups has not been established. This cooperation (Phase 2) is intended to help farmers to develop their ability to negotiate prices for their products. This cooperation (Phase 2) aims to increase the agricultural income of farmers participating in the target farmer groups by supporting them to strengthen their capacity to develop market-oriented farming and marketing plans, supporting them to cultivate and market horticultural products based on these plans, and promoting collaboration and information sharing among value chain actors. This will contribute to increasing the agricultural income of these farmers and stabilizing their farm incomes. |
