Project Detail |
In Indonesias Jakarta metropolitan area, the population continues to grow year after year, and the resulting rapid increase in the number of vehicles is causing serious traffic congestion. Air pollution caused by exhaust fumes has also led to a deteriorating investment environment, and increasing passenger transportation capacity is a challenge. With further increase in road traffic expected, the government of the Capital Territory of Jakarta has planned the countrys first Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) to shift from automobile traffic to public transportation, and has developed the Bundelang HI (Hotel Indonesia) section in the city center from Lubak Bulus in the south of Jakarta city The project is the first mass rapid transit (MRT) project in the country. In this cooperation, the northern extension will continue to be developed. This will help to meet increasing transportation demand, alleviate traffic congestion, improve the investment environment, and reduce environmental impact.
(1) Purpose of the Project
This project aims to meet the increasing transportation demand in the Jakarta metropolitan area and to achieve a modal shift from automobile to public transportation by constructing an urban high-speed rail system in the Jakarta metropolitan area, where traffic congestion is serious, thereby contributing to alleviating traffic congestion, improving the investment environment, and reducing the environmental burden in the metropolitan area. The project will contribute to easing traffic congestion, improving the investment environment, and reducing environmental impact in the metropolitan area.
(2) Project Details
This project will build an MRT in the Jakarta metropolitan area, where traffic congestion is serious. According to the overall project plan, the MRT line between Lubak Bulus and Kampung Bandung (total length: 23.5km) will be constructed in two phases: "Phase 1" (Lubak Bulus - Bundelang HI, total length: 15.7km) and "Phase 2" (Bundelang HI - Kampung Bandung, total length: 7.8km). The project was to be developed in phases. However, due to difficulties in acquiring a site for the proposed 7.8-km section connecting Bundelang HI to Kampung Bandang, which was a candidate for the planned rail yard in Phase 2, the plan was changed. As a result, the rail yard site was changed to Anchol Barat, which is extended north from Kota Station, and the alignment to the left (total length of Phase 2 section after change: approx. 12.0 km) is currently being planned. Phase 2 is divided into Section 2A from Bundelang HI to Kota (original alignment: total length of Section 6.0 km) and Section 2B from Kota to Anchor Barat (extension alignment: total length of Section 5.0 km) (see attached map), but the construction of Section 2B is not included in the scope of this project at present. |
