In India, the number of people traveling and the volume of cargo transported within the country are rapidly increasing due to the recent population increase and the rapid economic growth of over 7% per year. The transportation and traffic modes connecting Mumbai, the second largest city in India in Maharashtra, and Ahmedabad, a commercial and industrial city in Gujarat, are air, rail, long-distance bus and automobile, but it is necessary to continue to respond to the increasing demand for transportation.
This project will construct a high-speed railway using Japans Shinkansen system on the approximately 500 km section connecting Mumbai, Maharashtra and Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This will aim to establish a high-frequency mass passenger transportation system, thereby strengthening connectivity and contributing to the broad economic development of the target region.
[Project Objective]

[Project Contents]
1) Civil engineering and construction works: (elevated section: approx. 450 km, tunnel section: approx. 25 km (including undersea tunnel), others (special bridges, etc.): approx. 25 km, station construction (total 12 stations))
2) Track construction
3) Electrical and mechanical construction
4) Car depot construction
5) Procurement of rolling stock and inspection vehicles
6) Procurement of maintenance vehicles
7) Consulting services (construction supervision (quality control, safety management, response to environmental and social considerations, etc.), technology transfer to improve the construction supervision capabilities of the implementing agency, etc.) |
