Project Detail |
In Afghanistan, due to a lack of hydrological and meteorological data, improvements to irrigation facilities and river structures and effective use of Sustainable Water Resources Management have not been fully implemented. In Phase 1 of this cooperation, Japan will provide the Department of Sustainable Water Resources Management, which is responsible for managing hydrological and meteorological information under the Ministry of Water and Energy, regarding the quality control and processing of data obtained from some of its hydrological observatories (83 locations). As a result of our support for capacity improvement, a system was established to stably collect and manage information on four major observation items (flow rate, precipitation, temperature, and relative humidity data). In this cooperation (Phase 2), we will expand observation items with guaranteed quality, analyze and visualize collected data, and build a system to provide information to related organizations (Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Japan Meteorological Agency, Disaster Risk Reduction Bureau, etc.) Through this, we aim to have data actually used for Sustainable Water Resources Management development, including irrigation development, and Disaster Risk Reduction. |
