Project Detail |
The Western Region of Fiji is home to the Nadi International Airport and is an important center for the tourism industry as well as the sugar and manufacturing industries. In recent years, the demand for water in the region has been increasing due to population and tourist growth, necessitating the development of water sources and facilities. However, due to the financial impact of the global pandemic of the new coronavirus, the prospects for large-scale waterworks development are low, and additional water volume must be secured through non-revenue water measures such as reducing water leakage. This project will develop and implement an effective and feasible non-revenue water reduction plan in the Nadi Lautoka district, improve capacity in leak detection, pipe installation and leak repair, meter reading and fee collection, and conduct activities to raise water conservation awareness among residents in the target area. This will improve the overall capacity to reduce non-revenue water in the Nadi Lautoka area, thereby reducing the amount of non-revenue water in the area. (1) Overall Goal: Reduction of non-revenue water in the Nadi Lautoka District. 2) Project Purpose: WAFs ability to reduce non-revenue water in Nadi Lautoka District will be improved. 3) Outcome: Output 1: An effective and feasible non-revenue water reduction plan will be developed in Nadi Lautoka district. Output 2: Leak detection capacity in Nadi Lautoka district will be improved. Output 3: Capacity for water distribution pressure management, pipe installation, and leak repair in Nadi Lautoka will be improved. Output 4: Improved meter reading, billing, and collection capacity in Nadi Lautoka Output 5: Increased awareness of water conservation among residents in Nadi Lautoka |
