Project No. SCCP_202_2024A Project Title Best practices to support MSME exporters in implementing trade-related environmental regulations for sustainable growth Project Status Project in Implementation Since the 2000s, the international community has recognized the seriousness of climate change and has been continuously striving for an eco-friendly and decarbonized economy. In this context, new eco-friendly policies and international standards have recently been established by various economies and economic entities. The EU, in particular, has proactively implemented policies such as the CBAM and CSDDD. Compliance with these new eco-friendly policies is becoming a critical consideration for trade and economic activities in the Asia-Pacific region. Therefore, proactive responses from APEC economies are essential. The objective of the project is to identify the supportive measures and policies of APEC economies in customs clearance procedures to assist MSME exporters to comply with trade-related environmental measures (CBAMs, CCAs, etc.) and - more broadly - to support MSME attainment of net-zero emissions and circularity in their trade- related activities and supply chain operations. This will assist businesses and governments in formulating strategies where they are not yet ready. The workshop will also share and discuss best practices from APEC economies and the role of customs in this regard. |
