Project No. SCCP_203_2024A Project Title Development of AEO Cooperation Scheme and Measurement of economic effects of AEO among APEC member economies Project Status Project in Implementation Recent trends in international trade focus on trade facilitation, including the expansion of FTAs and the promotion of e-commerce, alongside efforts to prevent risks in supply chains. WTO has established trade facilitation agreements, mandating economies to provide additional trade facilitation measures for authorized operators (hereinafter called Authorized Economic Operators, AEOs).Furthermore, the importance of AEO is continuously growing, reinforced by efforts from organizations such as World Customs Organization(WCO)/Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity(IPEF) to enhance trade facilitation and supply chain security. This project aims to measure the economic impact of AEO through Time Release Study(TRS) and Surveys in economies, consolidating AEO information, including support for small and medium-sized enterprises. Capacity-Building workshop will impart knowledge on risk management and advanced AEO operations to help developing economies successfully introduce the AEO program. Customs organizations that have implemented the AEO program trust their operators and conduct fewer or no inspections. This facilitates the flow of secured goods and reduces transport costs, helping to boost the domestic economy. |
