Project Name Scaling Up Financing and Technology Innovations to Promote Solar Energy in South Asia Project Number 58250-001 Country / Economy Regional Bangladesh Bhutan India Maldives Nepal Sri Lanka Project Status Active In the cooperation agreement signed in March 2018, Asian Development Bank (ADB) and International Solar Alliance (ISA) agreed to jointly promote solar energy in the region and defined three pillars of support: (i) development of a project pipeline, (ii) identification of financing instruments to support the scale-up of solar energy investments, and (iii) building of knowledge management and capacity. Building on the previous TA for Deploying Solar Systems at Scale Project, the proposed TA will support (i) generation and dissemination of knowledge to facilitate solar energy development across developing member countries (DMCs) and (ii) design of innovative financing models for solar energy investments expanded across DMCs starting with Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Maldives and Sri Lanka of South Asia. |
