This is a major allocation under the BOGOTA SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT FL (20170904) for the construction of Bogotás first automated metro line. The project includes a 24 km long elevated metro with 16 stations, a depot, and the supply of 30 trains. Additionally, it encompasses electrical installations, control systems, telecommunications, ticketing, and fare collection systems. The project also covers preliminary works, the restructuring of some existing Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lines and associated stations, and the upgrading of public spaces, including the construction of bicycle lanes.
Objectives
The project is expected to increase the attractiveness of public transport in the city and promote a positive modal shift from private modes, alleviating as such negative externalities of road traffic. The project will also increase accessibility to the job market and other major urban functions through reliable, fast, safe and affordable transportation The project is expected to generate savings in user time, vehicle-operating costs and fuel consumption, road accident costs, local air/noise emissions as well as a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
