The proposed regional TA will support targeted cities in Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam which face chronic air pollution issues to assess options to reduce traffic-related air pollution (TRAP). This includes the feasibility of developing low emission zones (LEZ) and/or ultra-low emission zones (ULEZ) in core urban districts. The support will include sharing international best practice case studies to reduce TRAP using ULEZ, LEZ, car-free zones, green corridors, and co-benefits including road safety and congestion reduction. The TA will help project cities to design and/or improve appropriate low emission frameworks which address key barriers, establish the required institutional arrangements and create the enabling environment for successful implementation. The TA will work with project cities to identify downstream demonstration projects for implementation which reduce traffic-related air pollution, improve climate mitigation, and support climate resilience. |
