Project Name Advancing Energy Transition and Regional Power Trade in the Greater Mekong Subregion and Southeast Asia Project Number 57266-001 Country / Economy Regional Cambodia Indonesia Lao Peoples Democratic Republic Malaysia Philippines China, Peoples Republic of Thailand Viet Nam The TA will assist the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member countries to accelerate their energy transition through a regional power market (RPM) and grid interconnections to promote higher penetration and better integration of clean energy.3 The TA will (i) improve capacities for multilateral power trade and RPM through the introduction of shadow trading, (ii) develop regional framework and country action plans for RPM, (iii) assess opportunities for interconnection and renewable energy investment, and (iv) strengthen regional cooperation to accelerate energy transition. ADB will be the executing and implementing agency of the TA. The TA will be implemented in collaboration with the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and other ASEAN bodies,4 and the GMS Energy Transition Task Force (ETTF). |
