Project No. EPWG_104_2024A Project Title Strengthening community resilience in the face of intensified disaster risk due to climate change Project Status Project in Implementation APEC economies are exposed to various natural hazards due to their geographical location, which are intensified by the effects of climate change. To address these challenges, the Chilean economy and the others APEC economies have a series of local instruments (emergency plans, disaster risk reduction, etc.) that aim to prepare communities for these events. However, municipalities encounter problems in their implementation due to weak coordination and local capacities to implement them. This project seeks to strengthen the capacities of local actors in APEC economies for a better understanding and exchange of experiences regarding the link that should exist between local disaster risk reduction actions and the various local plans for development, planning, land use and climate change. A workshop will allow the exchange of experiences and discussion on the needs, challenges, and capacities to be strengthened in local actors of APEC economies to link disaster risk reduction actions and the various local plans. |
