Project Status
Proposed
Climate change and the loss of ecosystem services are increasingly threatening sustainable development of the Pacific small island developing states. The technical assistance (TA) will support climate resilience of developing member countries (DMCs) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the Pacific, through a climate-food-nature nexus approach focusing on improved agriculture and fisheries management, protection of water resources, natural capital, ocean and and coastal resources, and flood control. The TA will serve as an umbrella TA for the engagement of ADBs Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development (AFNR) sector, will support long term sector development while also cater to immediate country project needs. The TA will support (i) upstream works such as country sector assessments, diagnostic studies, policy and market analysis, (ii) project preparation such as concept development, due diligence, and Paris Agreement alignment, and (iii) project implementation support, capacity development, and dissemination. The TA will complement existing ADB operations and fills in the critical gap in food, nature, and rural development. The TA will initially focus on project development in five DMCs: Fiji, Kiribati, Palau, PNG, Samoa, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu |
