Project Title
Food Safety Incident Management: Innovative Technologies
Project Status
Project in Implementation
Food safety incident management is key to supporting robust food-safety systems’ supply chain efficiency and trade facilitation. However, the current food recall process across APEC economies needs updating due to the complexities of today’s global food supply chain and the lag in incident-management modernization. The topic was last raised in the FSCF in 2011. This project will connect regulators and government officials engaged in food safety incident management and consumer outreach to related food industries that manufacture and adopt technologies that streamline these processes. The project will include a workshop to highlight how industry, including MSMEs, uses technology to improve food safety practices and increase supply chain efficiencies; how food regulators use technology to support regulatory objectives; and how trade is impacted through technology use. Connecting industry, regulators, and trade officials also increases alignment in incident management approaches and reduces potential future trade disruptions. |
