Project Detail |
In Cameroon, the municipality of Yaoundé VI is embarking on a transition process with the creation of a Municipal Water and Environment Agency (AMEE). In partnership with the city of Loos-en-Gohelle, it proposes, through this project, to structure and operationalize the AMEE. In return, Loos-en-Gohelle will rely on Yaoundé VI to enrich the governance of its own transition projects and its strategy for adapting to global warming.
CONTEXT
Despite obvious differences between their territories, the mayors of Loos-en-Gohelle and Yaoundé VI agree on their shared desire to make their municipalities champions of sustainable development and resilience, serving the populations. By mutually enriching each other with their experiences, they will develop collective capacities for change management and active citizenship through the implementation of pilot projects.
DESCRIPTION
The project is organized around three components:
Governance: strengthening the capacities of elected officials, services and civil society organizations in Yaoundé VI in their approach to leading systemic change;
Citizen mobilization and co-construction of public policies: contribute to the structuring of the AMEE and the development of municipal water and waste strategies in Yaoundé VI and update the charter of the living environment of residents in Loos-en-Gohelle;
Capitalization and dissemination: document the process, organize or participate in various events favorable to the dissemination of the experience in Cameroon and France.
IMPACTS
Expected results:
The production of a Cameroonian transition benchmark;
Implementation of pilot projects for water supply and waste management in Yaoundé VI;
The production of a citizen strategy for anticipating climate and social risks in Loos-en-Gohelle. |
