Project Detail |
Training technicians and engineers in industrial engineering is the ambition of the CIPASTI project, winner of the 2nd edition of the "Africa - France Academic Partnerships" program. Led by Loyola University of Congo and the Catholic Institute of Arts and Crafts, it aims to structure a professional training course from bachelors to doctorate.
CONTEXT
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is the 4th most densely populated country in Africa. In the midst of a demographic boom, its population is expected to reach 150 million inhabitants in 2035, two thirds of whom will be under 25 years old.
The DRC has initiated a policy of developing its higher education system provided by around 900 establishments and wishes to align its training with international standards.
Engineering training courses are underrepresented in the country while the need for technicians and managers is significant and industrial jobs are increasing.
DESCRIPTION
The CIPASTI project aims to structure a lasting strategic partnership for higher education courses provided at the Loyola University of Congo (ULC): a professional training course (bachelors, masters) of quality, and attractive at the national and international level. The ambition? To train technicians and engineers in key productive sectors for the DRC such as civil engineering, energy or processing/agro-industry industries.
This project was selected as part of the second edition of the “Africa-France Academic Partnerships” program. This program is funded by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) via the French Development Agency (AFD). It is implemented by the National Research Agency (ANR) and Campus France with the support of the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR).
IMPACTS
This project contributes to the achievement of the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
The co-construction of quality and professional training courses on the African continent (SDG 4).
